Several suspects charged with murder of N.J. detective Monica Mosley

Three people have been charged with the murder of Cumberland County Det. Sgt. Monica Mosley while a fourth person has been accused of trying to help cover up the deadly crime, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office announced.
The suspects were identified on Monday as Nyshawn Mutcherson, 29, of Vineland; Jarred Brown, 31, of Bridgeton; Richard Willis, 32, of Gloucester City; and Cyndia Pimentel, 38, of Paulsboro.
Mutcherson, Brown and Willis are each facing counts of murder, burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon and other related offenses, according to the prosecutors’ office. Pimentel, meanwhile, was charged with hindering, obstruction and tampering with evidence.
“The law enforcement community and the State of New Jersey have lost a steadfast and dedicated public servant, but we know that the loss of Sergeant Monica Mosley is most deeply felt by her family, loved ones, and colleagues,” said New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin.
“While nothing will ever bring Sgt. Mosley back to those who loved her, we hope that the focused, coordinated efforts in this case provide them with the comfort of knowing that justice is being pursued.”
Officers with the Bridgeton Police department responded to reports of a suspected break-in at Mosley’s home, tucked in the 600 block of Buckshutem Road, the night of October 15. When they arrived on the scene, they found Mosley, who served the county prosecutor’s office for nearly two decades, dead from a gunshot wound.
Prior to her death, though, it appears Mosley was able to shoot Mutcherson, who later turned up at Inspira Medical Center, according to court documents obtained by CBS News Philadelphia. He allegedly told officers he was shot in Millville.
Brown and Willis, with the help of Pimentel, in the meantime, worked to destroy evidence of the home invasion and tried cover up Mosley’s murder, investigators said.
Officers were ultimately able to use cellphone data, surveillance video, DNA and ballistic analysis, and recorded statements to bring charges against all four suspects.
A motive for the killing is still unclear.
