Pictures show a finished grip varnished and unvarnished. Customers have used varnish, oil, or cork sealer and have been happy with the results. For glue-up, I use titebond, but epoxy or other wood glues should work. I recommend turning the grip on the blank.
These rings are made from bark salvaged in WA state. Compared to cork: Cottonwood bark is slightly heavier and can be turned the same way as cork, with sandpaper. It takes a little more elbow grease to shape. Bark handles are harder, less compressible, and somewhat less grippy when wet. In my opinion bark handles are better looking and more sensitive.
